Time Stepping

Hello

Could some one help me with the basics of ..what exactly is meant by saying "Time Steps" and the "Number of Time steps"...what do these essentially mean in calculations ? how are the results based on these values ?

If someone has literature on it ..please help me with it

Thanks

Re: Time Stepping

time steps is used for simulating unsteady flow. to simulate a flow for 10s in a pipe you would define say a time step of 1s and no. of time steps as 10. before each solution moves onto next time step convergence should be achieved.

Re: Time Stepping

First set how long u wanna need you simulation, then set a time, at which (at every time steps) the simulation pickup the value from you user defined function and calculate thereby. And the no. of time steps multiplied by time steps gives you total time that you want.
