Hi,

My problem is...

Consider a channel with some flow of water whose bed consists of a porous sand layer. I want to introduce upward velocity of water from the porous sand(secondary phase) into the main channel in which water(Primary phase) is flowing. The sand bed particles are NOT moving, but water thro' the sand voids enters at some velocity in the main channel flow. The water in the main channel and that coming out thro' sand pores have the same physical properties. Is it possible to do this using FLUENT to obtain velocity and shear stress distribution at the interface of the main channel of water and the bottom sand layer?

I am new to fluent, and someone suggested me to use multiphase Eularian-granular model. If anyone knows plz help me, how I should proceed?

Thanks!

hi, there is tutorial similar to your problem in FLUENT. Tut 18 Using the Eulerian multiphase model for granular flow. Check it out.

Thanx Ravi,

I did see that. But there the particles are in suspension. In my problem I want the sand particles to remain stationary and water should come out thro' the pores with some known velocity. How can I achieve this? What density value I should assign to the secondary phase (i.e. the sand. What I understand from the Fluent Manual that the sand grains will move with some velocity as the momentum Eq. is also solved for the secondary phase. Any knows about this Pl. help.
