Particle Volume Fraction

I'm using FLUENT version 4.56 and my model related to eulerian granular multiphase model (Sand and air) and fluidized bed column (2D model). My problem is when i simulated my model it didn't simulated at all.

How to determine the particle volume fraction if my column height is 1m and column wide is 0.6m, While the particle bed height is 0.2m.

Is it need to specify the particle velocity in the boundary condition?

I don't know what you mean " it didn't simulate at all." I did this kind of modeling using Fluent 6.0. The result is pretty good. I think the correct BC is very important. I don't know what kind of BC you select? For fluidized bed, the top surface varies with velocity, so it is free. You should pay attention to this.

Why not use Fluent 6.0. For multiphase modeling, Fluent 6.0 is much better.
