Importing ProE parts to Gambit

I am having problems importing pro-enigineer parts into gambit. I get the error message:

Unable to open file ".\partname_prt.stp" for reading. The native ProE part is partname.prt so why is it trying to open partname_prt.stp? I have tried playing around with file extensions to no avail. I am using the Gambit version which came with Fluent 5.5 and Proe 2000isquared

I am not so sure about your question.

but you can export the model as STEP, which has a extensions of .stp, then you can import it into the Gambit.

About the STEP, you can refer to the manual of Gambit. There are details

Re: Importing ProE parts to Gambit

thanks for the reply Li, it appears that the automatic import of pro/e parts is not actually inporting native proe parts but using an automatic exporting of a step file from proe and importing into gambit. my problem was due to it creating the parts in a directory i couldnt get at. or at least this is what appears to happen.
