Question about Mixture Model

According to Fluent6's manual, "The mixture model solves the continuity equation for the mixture, the momentum equation for the mixture, the energy equation for the mixture, and the volume fraction equation for the secondary phases, as well as algebraic expressions for the relative velocities (if the phases are moving at different velocities)."

In other words, Fluent does not solve continuity equation, momentum and energy equation for each phase respectively.

In my case, water is chosen as "primary phase", the "second phase" consists of 7 particle phases which are distinguished by their diameter.

My question is: Now that Fluent does not solve continuity equation, momentum and energy equation for each phase respectively, and how does Fluent draw "stream function" and other parameters' profile for each phase, including water and particles?

Best Regards

Re: Question about Mixture Model

I think itīs not possible to draw stream function for each phase in mixture model. Mixture model treats flow as one phase flow with more components. Maybe itīs beter to use euler model in your case. It solves all equations for each individual phase.

Re: Question about Mixture Model

I know, but only k-eps tubulent model can be adopted in Eulerian Model. In my case, I will use RSM.

I really have drawn stream-function profile for each phase, why?

Re: Question about Mixture Model

why don't you use the DPM to simulate the flow?you have noted that the secondary phase includes just only 7 diameter-different paticles.

Re: Question about Mixture Model

I tried DPM, but failed, and according to fluent6's manual, Mixture model is fit for my case(cyclone separation).
