Gravity, and static pressure

Dear all. While modeling a tall vertical column (height in the positive y direction), I have defined Gravitational acceleration as X (0 m/s2) and Y (-9.806 m/s2). For a bubble column, the static pressure contours are showing increase as we go up the cloumn from the bottom. But isn't static pressure supposed to show increase as we go down the column? Where am I wrong?

Re: Gravity, and static pressure

Hi,

I used to have a similar problem when I modeled effect of gravity in various flow problems.

Have you turned on the specified operating density in Operating conditions panel? Change the default density to zero and you will probably get to see the static pressure increasing as you go to the bottom.

There is some bug in Fluent which I don't fully understand that unless you turn on the specified operating density you don't see the effect of gravity on static pressure.

Hope my suggestion helps you.

Regards, Suresh
