relative velocity of particles in DPM

Is there a way to to calculate relative velocity of the particles with respect to fluid,in the DPM model? or how does fluent6 calculates particle reynolds number?

Appreciating all suggestions and help. kulwinder

Hi

Good question!

of course you can obtain this value, I don't know if there is already a macro implemented but you can write a UDF. See the example for define DPM scalar update.

Re: relative velocity of particles in DPM

hi alex,

Thanks for your fast and helping response. I need relative velocity at the particle position, and i have access to the fluid velocity at the nodes and cell centroid ,but then i have to interpolate this velocity to the particle position. Interpolation wil make my code long and my fluent run slow.

But I have found one macro DEFINE_DPM_DRAG where fluent passes particle Reynolds number to the macro, I will try manupulating this opportunity to my use.

Once again I appreciate your help.

Best Regards
