Default Mass flow boundary condition

Hello, I am modelling unsteady compressible flow, I want to use a mass flow boundary condition at inlet however I am unsure as to how Fluent treats the Static Pressure. I understand this is used as an initial value for the flow when it is subsonic, however I am unsure as to how Fluent treats it as the simulation progresses?? Does it still use this original value in calculations or is the Static Pressure allowed to fluctuate?? I would be extremeley grateful if anyone can help me out with this! Thanks, Síle
