Standard wall function vs Two layer model
I've been using the standard wall function and two layer model to represent the boundary layer for the turbulent flow across a set of obstacles that represent an idealised filter. I have followed FLUENT guidelines to create grids for each approach. When I use the standard wall function I get pressure drops that are 50-60% larger than the value I get in the laboratory. The use of the two layer model matches perfectly the experimental values. That is for when I model the problem as a 2D analysis. When I model the problem as a 3D analysis. The use of the standard wall function and the two layer model does not make any difference giving both approches the same value I get in the lab.
