Is PDF method can be used to simulate Methane partial oxidation or coal gasification to produce syngas?

I have experience of simulation of oil gasification by using Fluent. So, I think that simulation of Methane partial oxidation is possible.

I have tried coal gaification, too. And I know that it is, basically, possible to simulate coal gasification by using 'multiple char reaction model' with PDF model in Fluent version 6.x. But it was very difficult to get converged solution because of complex physical and chemical pheonema, especially high swirl in the gasifier, of coal gasification.
