difference between PATCH and INITIAL

Hello everyone, I am not clear about the Patch and Initial usage under Unsteady condition. For t=0s, which value is used for calculation, Patch or Initial? Thanks. Zwdi

Initialize command works on the whole domain, while Patch allows you to select portions of it and to specify values (or profiles) of a particular variable.

If you initialize, then patch a variable, at t=0 FLUENT uses the patched value, because it overwrites the first one.
