Hi all,
Whenever I finish inputting my data in the FLUENT and I want to save either or both the case and data files, the following error message appear in the console window:
Error: sopenoutputfile: unable to open file for output
Error object: "c:\documents and settings\Faisal\New Folder\concrete.cas"
What is my mistake, and how can I correct it?
Thank you for your attention in advance.

How are you trying to save it? With File-->write-->case/case and data/data, or are you using the tui? I think the error message is telling you that one of those directories isn't valid.

I am trying to save it using File-->write-->case/case and data/data. If one of the directories is invalid, what does that signify? Meaning they don't exist or what? I have been saving using this pattern before and it wasn't giving me the error message. Now, even if I create a new folder and try saving the case and data files, the error keeps appearing. Help me out if you can. Thanks

I wasn't sure if you were saving the case/data with the tui, where you would have a problem if you typed the directories incorrectly. I've never seen this before. Here's what I would try:

1) Close and reopen fluent. The downshot is that you lose your data, but hopefully you're not too far along. In my opinion, fluent is buggy, and this is the only way I've found to fix weird problems like this.

2) Try saving it somewhere else. Like C:\concrete.cas.

3) Make sure you have permission to write to the directory your trying to save the case. (Unlikely, but you never know...) Windows file permissions: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../bb727008.aspx

4) What's different from when you were able to successfully save? There has to be something. Different computer?

Hi all,
I fixed the problem I posted earlier. So, I decided to share it with you guys in case someone else might benefit from the solution. I, simply closed and re-opened the FLUENT and saved the file directly as C:\concrete.cas as far Chris D's suggestion.
Thank you so much for the help, Chris D.
