Turbulent Viscosity Ratio

Hello,
We are trying to simulate a subsonic (Mach no: 0.6) turbulent internal flow in an S shaped diffusing duct. We are specifying the pressure inlet turbulence boundary conditions using turbulence intensity (5%) and hydraulic diameter (0.4 meter). FLUENT calculates turbulent viscosity ratio of around 11000 at the inlet from our turbulence boundary conditions. Is this a reasonable value? We were expecting this ratio in the range of 10 to 100. Any direct guidance on this OR any sources for finding out more will be helpful. Thanks, deven |

Yes I agree with you! It's pretty high! For a value of 5% of turbulence ratio, it should be about 50 in my opinion.
