Journal command to patch values

Hi,

I would like to run fluent in batch mode, therefore I have to write the journal file, however, I could not find journal command to patch values to particular cells

where is the corresponding command to the following panel

solve->initialize->patch

I am using VOF model.

The solve initialize set-default mp-1 1 will set the value for the whole domain. it is suppose to set the value for the second volume.

You have to use a scheme tool inside your journal file. You can get it at www.fluentusers.com It worked for me.

Hi, Just a suggestion: don't you think patching your values through the GUI - save the .dat file - and then run fluent in a batch mode by calling this .dat file could be an alternative to your problem.

Thanks, I just realised this maybe a better option. Just thought that the GUI panel should have a text command.Fluent recorded journal file still requires the GUI to run!

Hi, excuse me what do you mean by 'Fluent recorded journal file still requires the GUI to run' ? . You can use fluent and your journal file from a shell script command. However concerning the set-up ( choice of model, parameter ect ect ) obviously the GUI is more than helpful

Journal files automatically saved by Fluent contain commands that operate directly on the GUI, like

(cx-do-gui cx-activate-item "MenuBar*WriteSubMenu*Stop Journal")

therefor GUI needs to be activated to use this file.

Is this the case?

As far as I know, using fluent batch means running fluent without using the Graphic User Interface. In that case you use this command: fluent 2/3d -g <Journal-name>& results.txt Now about a journal file automatically generated by fluent, I think you know more than me about this so I won't get into that field wihtout knowing. But I also know that a journal file can effectively be launched from the GUI, but in that case you are not in batch mode anymore. thomas

the latest released version of FLUENT, v6.1.22, has the "patch" command in the text-user interface (tui) under

solve/patch

this tui command was missing in earlier versions.
