transient natural gas flow in a single pipeline

Hi everybody I'm gonna model transient natural gas flow in a single pipeline. Is Fluent capable of modelling such kind of fluid flow? Is fluent powerful in the field of interior flows? How does it act upon compressibility? Please help me and let me now whether I'd better use Fluent for these purpose or not?

Hi; If in your gas flow there is not solid particles or solidification or other multiphase effects, your problem is very simple! For compressible calculation in the material pannel, set the density to ideal gas. Please describe more about transient effects. For transient calculation you need to set unsteady in the solve pannel. Regards

Dear Roozbeh the flow I have in mind is under high pressure which is conventional for transmission lines i.e 300-1700 psig so it does not satisfy ideal gas state. and there are still many other questions unsolved, one of them is: can Fluent consider joul-thamson effect which plays an important role in cooling the gas or not?

Re: Heat transfer in the pipeline

FLUENT implements the real gas model.

I don't know about the Joule-Thompson effect, but it shouldn't be difficult to implement it if not yet done.

Hi :)

Hi

Fluent is the powerfull software in the field of interior and compressible flow, which most of the people recomend it. But to answer your question, please define your case more clear and give more information, then I might be helpful.

Hi,
I have a similar problem,
Could you solve j-t effect modeling using fluent?
