Hi ,

I need to calculate the shear stress at the surface of a sphere suspended in a linear shear flow. FLUENT gives derivatives at the centroid of the cell (but not on the faces) , which could be used to calculate the shear stress at each point which could be added up along with the pressure to get the drag and Lift.

My question is how can i get the derivatives at the face ? so that my calculations are more accurate ?

Thanks in Advance Ajay

Hi Ajay,

during post-processing, we get wall shear stress as one of the options in the drop down manu...can you not use this value for your calculation ??

bye, ashish

Thanks Ashish, My problem is that i need to update my boundary condition depending upon the wall shear and have to do that dynamically .So i need to calculate the wall shear and Fluent doenst give derivatives at the face! -Ajay
