2D cylindrical problem in axial & radial direction
I have a 2D cylindrical geometry and I want to solve it in the axial and radial direction. In the gambit I can create the 2D geometry and export the mesh only in x-y plane & not in x-z plane. x-y direction means r-theta directions. but i want to solve it in r-z direction. anybody can please help me.

Re: 2D cylindrical problem in axial & radial direc
Use the "AXIS" boundary condition to specify the center-line of your cylindrical geometry; this must lie on the Y-Z plane (ie along the x-axis). Then, when you import the mesh into FLUENT, make sure that you set the problem as 2D-axisymmetric (Define/Solver). In this way, the x-direction is your axial, the y-direction your radial coordinates.

Do you mean you have an axisimmetrical geometry?
If so, you just need to choose the 2D solver and then choose the axi option. Hi :) ap |
