Fixed size function

Hi,

I use a fixed size function with face source attached to a c-shaped volume with straight edges. Can somebody explain to me why when I try to visualize the size function it doesn't look like a closed volume, but like just borders alone? Or, if I decrease the distance it does look like a volume, but it begins a little lower than the source face?
