Hi, I have a simple question.
How can I attach two volumes; where one of them is "solid" and the other is "fluid" (which passes thru the solid) ? You know, my problem is like a "thick hot pipe" through which a "cold fluid" flows. I mean shall I mesh both volumes first, and then try to attach them or vice-versa? __and how the attachment is done? I am trying to get the temprature contour in both solid and fluid with FIDAP, but could only get the temperature contour in the SOLID not fluid. Thanks in advance for a favorable reply. Susan |

In gambit the approach is simple; just treat the solid volume as another fluid zone. You can separate the two zones from each other by 1) creating a cilinder volume with radius equal to your outside radius, and then 2) create a cilinder volume with radius equal to the inner radius, and finally 3) split the first volume with the second one. Mesh both volumes, and then set the fluid zone type of the solid volume as 'SOLID'.
