I want to simulate a beam vibration acted by wind using dynamic mesh model. It needs to define dynamic boundary conditions, on which the nodes' velocity calculated from the external program. I don't know how to define this B.C. using the Profile in Fluent. My problem is urgent, any suggestion will be great appreciated. Thanks.

I defined the Profile like this format in Fluent UG:

((velocity-prof point 8)

(x

4.00000E+00 4.00000E+00 4.00000E+00 4.00000E+00

4.00000E+00 4.00000E+00 4.00000E+00 4.00000E+00 )

(y

1.06443E-03 3.19485E-03 5.33020E-03 7.47418E-03

2.90494E-01 3.31222E-01 3.84519E-01 4.57471E-01 )

(u

5.47866E+00 6.59870E+00 7.05731E+00 7.40079E+00

1.01674E+01 1.01656E+01 1.01637E+01 1.01616E+01 )

I choose "User Defined" mesh motion style using this Profile, but Fluent prompts me:

"incorrect cg motion udf f1velocity-prof on zone 5 (assuming no motion)"

what's wrong ?

I wrote a UDF to solve this problem based on the example of DEFINE_GRID_MOTION() macro. In this example,I found there were several macros that Fluent have not explicitly explained in its Documentation. Why does Fluent not put them into the macros list in the help file and give detail?

Hi David

Came across your discussions.

IF I would wanna make a wall move "into the fluid and away from the fluid " with a given frequency and amplitude..could you help me with a UDF for the same ?

Working with the help files from Fluent, I experienced a problem in Meshing Error..like it said.."non-positive Volumes exist"..does the tutorial problem...work fine with you ?

Thanks

CFDtoy..
