Default Realizable and Standard K-E Difference

I am wondering if anyone can point me to a reference or could explain to me the main differences between the realizable and the standard k-epsilon model, in respect of modelling a two dimensional mixing elbow as is available in the Fluent tutorial.

And in your personal opinion which you would recommend and why?

Thank you

Andrew

Here is the reference of the people that made the model:

SHIH, T-H., LIOU, W. W., SHABBIR, A., YANG, Z. ZHU, J. 1995. A new k-e eddy viscosity model for high Reynolds number turbulent flows. Computers & fluids. 24: 227-238.

Here is a reference of an application of the model:

CHAN, T. L., DONG, G., LEUNG, C. W., CHEUNG, C. S. and HUNG, W. T. 2002. Validation of a two-dimensional pollutant dispersion model in an isolated street canyon. Atmospheric environment. 36: 861-872.

I've found that the realizable ke has slightly more agreeable results than ske and takes about the same amount of time for iteration (compared to RNG). I think the main difference is that the eddy viscosity coefficient is calculated rather than used from a constant.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Tim.
