FLOW THROUGH SWIRLERS

Dear Friends,

I wish to introduce myself as an ph.d research scholar in IIT Madras in Mechanical engineering dept. I am working on "FLOW THROUGH VANE SWIRLERS" with Fluent6.1. I wish to contact people working on this area to share their experience.

Thanking you,

yours friendly, R.THUNDIL KARUPPA RAJ.

Re: FLOW THROUGH SWIRLERS

Dear Tundil,

I am investigating on the same topic as i want to simulate the flow in a swirler for combustion flames.

what do you want to know about swirlers?

maybe we can help each other

let me know

regards

David

FLOW THROUGH SWIRLERS

Dear David,

Thanks for the reply and I am glad to meet person who is working in the same area. My analysis is to predict the flow through vane swirlers for non-reacting as well as reacting flows. I am also about to do experimental work in wind tunnel with Hot Wire Annemometer.

I want to know which book you are using for basics in swirlers. Actually I am using a book named "SWIRL FLOWS" by Lilley and Gupta. I may be happy If I know some other books too.

I am also interested whether you are doing your master's or doctorate level. I may also be happy to know the papers you have gone through.

Awaiting for your reply.

Thanking you, With regards, R.THUNDIL KARUPPA RAJ.

Re: FLOW THROUGH SWIRLERS

Dear Thundil,

thank you for your message.

I am currently ready a book called "Gas turbine combustion" from Arthur Lefebvre and it gives me a better understanding of the role of swirlers in combustion flames.

I have also a good article from 1988 about vortex breakdown let me know if you are interested i would give you the full reference next time. There are also some articles I have that tell about the swirling flow field and its role in combustion.

If that is what you may be interested in, i would send you all the references and the pdf files i have.

I am currently doing a PhD.

I feel that our area of research are quite similar, it sounds very interesting.

best regards

David

Re: FLOW THROUGH SWIRLERS

Dear David,

I am very happy to see your mail. I am also having Arthur Lefebvre and I will go through it. I will be happy if I may get the full referrence about the book vortex breakdown and I am too interested in knowing all the articles related to our area.

I will be happy if you send all the referrence and pdf files you have. I am really thankful for your co-operation. you may send it through mail to thundil2003@indiatimes.com or thundilr@yahoo.com.

I am quite interested to know in which university you are doing your ph.d work.

with best regards,
