Default Simple Question Regarding Continuity Closure

Hello,

I am not CFD versed. I have a question about the convergence of values at a point in Fluent. I am trying to show that my terms balance (LHS=RHS) in the vorticity transport equation, but they do not (even though my Fluent solution looks reasonable). Further, as a check I tried (dVx/dx+dVy/dy+dVz/dz), and it will not sum to zero. Could anyone explain to me why I am not getting closure here?

Thanks for your time and help!

RC

Continuity equation is satisfied by the exact solution of the given problem. While you are solving numerically you will reach that solution after infinite number of steps. As long as you stop your iterations after a finite nof steps, the RHS of your continuity equation will be some non-zero value. How large this value is what decides whether your solution is converged or not. If the RHS is negligibly small (compared to the terms on LHS), you can safely conclude that the solution is attained.

Hope that helps
