I have created a 3D model in Gambit and the number of the mesh cells are about 2,200,000. When I tried to export it (not 2D), after about 5 minutes (apparantly it was trying to export the mesh), the error :

"Error Writing to file at line #......"

apeared in the box, at the lower part of the GUI and repeated interminably, till I "Killed" the program. I am sure that I have enough space for saving and exporting the files.

Can this problem be due to the huge mesh numbers? or I am doing something wrong with defining the BC's....?

Check with a smaller mesh just in case.

Gambit is a 32 bit software but it can cope with millions of cells.

2million cells is roughly 2 gigs memory. I think you ran out of ram.

Actualy the problem again was the huge files: 200 MB for dbs and 400 MB msh. So again I ran out of space.

why don't you try one thing, save the cases with say 4 different names, and delete some parts from each mesh such that collectively all the parts have the total mesh. now export all the meshes, say mesh1 mesh2 mesh3 mesh4, and use tmerge to merge them into final mesh, tmerge shall work from your command prompt, (command prompt of linux or windows etc) as

utility tmerge -3d mesh1 mesh2 mesh12 utility tmerge -3d mesh12 mesh3 mesh13 utility tmerge -3d mesh13 mesh4 finalmesh

this might take time but you will be able to get the mesh.

well since newlines were not in the message i posted, imagine line break before every 'utility' or the command is utility tmerge -3d mesh1 mesh2 meshfinal
