Equivalent area in 2D axi-symmetric model

Hi,

I am working on a steam turbine rotor-stator interaction problem. As part of the solution, i am solving with 2D axisymmetric model first and proceeding to the 3D sector model for further analysis. I know the 3D area of the inlet and i want to model the 2D equivalent length. Can I use the formula, 3D area = pi*(R2Sq. - R1sq.) to get the R2 value.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

if you know the radius then use it as the equivalent length in 2D.

i hope this helps
