Sub-iterations - What do they mean?

Hi !

I know this is a basic CFD issue. Could someone detail me as to how Sub-iterations in FLuent work? How is the CFL number used to determine timesteps for sub-iterations? Is it okay if convergence does not happen within the maximum number of sub-iterations? What is its impact on the solution at the next physical time step level? It would be happy if anyone could answer any part of this question. Thank you.

Arun
