Hi All:

I'm considering a number of different CFD programs for doing some aerodynamic analysis. I'm greatly concerned with how well these programs handle Hypersonic conditions, entering double-digit freestream mach number conditions. Has anyone had experience using Fluent for Hypersonic applications? Does anyone have an opinion on which CFD solver handles hypersonics the best?

Hi Jekkle,

I know Fluent is very much capable of doing hypersonic flows. I have once seen a simulation in which flow over a blunt body was computed using finite rate chemical kinetics. The maximum Mach number was 25. If I come across this simulation again I will pass it on to you.
