Air flow in hard disk drives

Dear Friends,

I am about to start researching the turbulent air flow characteristics in a hard disk drive using Fluent. In this connection I invite advices and suggestions on the turbulent model to be used here. Also let me know if there exists any literature that provides validation for numerical studies conducted on this problem.

Cheers Sundar

Re: Air flow in hard disk drives

There are many papers in ASME J.tribology.about the air flow in hard disk. The thickness between magnetic head and rotating disk is extro-thin air film ( several nm order). A 2D generalized air lubrication equation is used to study this kind of problems . You may refer these papers.
