3d volumes in GAMBIT

Hi Folks, I am very new to GAMBIT and trying to mesh some bathymetry data. I am at a point where I have created faces by connecting all the points. I need to generate volumes and when I try to stitch faces I get an ACIS error 7500: faces are used twice, is this an open shell?
I am not sure what to do. Any guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Sumant |

If you have complex volumes, you had better to generate them using GAMBIT elementary volumes instead of starting from points and faces.
This approach makes the mesh generation easier too, if you properly use the split and the connect functions. However, GAMBIT can't generate a volume from faces if they don't define a closed volume. Hi ap |

You may have have created two faces by stitching the edges twice. And then you meshed both of these faces. Then when you tried to mesh the volume Gambit gets confused and gives this error. You will have to find this duplicate face and delete it and then it should work. That is if this is the problem. Or you could have edges that need to be a face and you didn't stitch them. Also, you may have to heal the faces to eliminate geometric error, such as that the edges are not touching each other. By healing the faces and if this the problem by healing the faces a volume will be created. Hope this helps.
