DPM statistics on walls

Hello everyone, Once more, i need your help

I m trying to simulate natural convection in a closed containment, whose walls have different temperatures. I want do track particles that i managed to distribute at random (Thanks, Ryan Zarnitz!) - like 1000 particles for the moment- and my current aim is get some statistical infos : number or percentage of particles that ¨settled on one face, etc... So my questions are : 1- Do I have to use steady or unsteady state if i want to perform thoses stats with a kind of time (range) monitoring? I mean, can i check the stats at 1000s, then 1500s, then, etc...Can we do such a thing? 2- Should I set the boundaries at "trap" or else? I just want to know if a particle has hit a wall and then it can disappear...but that has to be taken in account in the stats... 3- Most important, how do we get those figures (the pourcentages...) in Fluent? I ve tried to see "sample trajectories" and "histogramm" in report>discrete phase, but i don t really understand the options (like displaying mass flow, time....???).....Hope Fluent can provide such infos, without building a udf...

I thank for all Regards, Olivia

Re: DPM statistics on walls

You could use the erosion/accretion simulation capability of Fluent in order to simulate what you want. Steady state simulation is enough.

Thank you very much, HVN! I ll try to use the erosion/accretion option. I ll let you know about the results.

Thanks!
