Problems with Fan boundary condition
 
Hi Friends, I am wondering if someone can help with this problem. I have a geometry (basically a box with inlet and outlet). I want to add two fans inside this box. The fans are completely inside the geometry and are located close to the inlet and outlet. So currently I am creating two cylinders for the fans and then specifying a surface on each cylinder as a fan in the options in Gambit. However, when I try to read these files into Fluent, I get the following error. I had a look at the manual and it says the fan is a thin interface between cells. If this is right then my .msh file should be read in fluent correctly as the meshing is volume meshing. Anyway, I will be very grateful if you could help. The errors is:

I'm not sure if this will help you or not, but I just recently modeled a heating duct system with a fan in it. My fan is modeled as a rectangular face. There is a volume of air on both sides of my fan face and the face I used for my fan was used to create the volumes on either side. A fan has to be interior to your model. If you are selecting a cylinder face, make sure that the face is inside some greater volume.
