how to set BC of cyclone separator outlet

In simulation of cyclone separator, the BC of outlet is often defined as "pressure-outlet" or "outflow", which one is best for the case of closed operation? that is, the outlet of cyclone is linked with a centrifugal fan.

thanks

When we don't know the outlet pressure, we can difine it as outflow.

Re: how to set BC of cyclone separator outlet

If we define outlet as "outflow", the exit pipe of the cyclone model need to be prolonged, in general, how long does we choose the length of exit pipe? supposing cyclone cylinder diameter is 170mm, exit diameter is 85mm.

In fact, swirl flow must be 3-dimension, how much error beteen the 3-dimension swirl flow and the developed outflow?

thank you!

In my opinion you can get better results and a better convergence behaviour using the pressure outlet boundary condition.

Thank you for response to my question, Downstream of my model is connected to a centrifugal wind machine, and can not use pressure outlet boundary condition.

Hi all,

how to define wall boundary conditions.

i think it is reflect.
and at inlet- velocity inlet
at outlet- pressure outlet.

but what about DPM tab in Boundary conditions. Trap, escape and reflect.

which conditions should i use at inlet and outlet?
