temperature
what is the difference between total temperature and static temperature for compressible flow?
thanks in advance. |
Re: temperature
The total temperature is the the temperature of the fluid if you think to arrest it isentropically (from its conditions). The compressibility of the fluid "is visible" observing a non-dimensional number: the Mach number, defined as the ratio between velocity and the speed of sound (at the considered temperature). The link is given through the equation:
Tt/T=(1+((gamma-1)/2)*(Mach)^2) Gamma is the ratio between the specific heat at constant pressure and at constant volume. FSL |
