Gambit mesh

Hi,
my mesh has to be composed of more than one volumes, and I've found only the way for connecting identical faces of two distinct volumes, but if these two faces are different how I could connect them for obtainig a common interface between two volumes? Thanks in advance! Ari |

Hello, You could try the 'connect faces' option in gambit, or you could use a non conformal interface in fluent. Both options should work. Good Luck

Have you tried connecting the vertices, then edges before connecting the faces?

My experienec is try prepare the geometry better in CAD (if you use CAD) rather than relying on fixing it in Gambit.

I think you can connect the mesh using utility tmerge command in fluent. This command is run in dos-prompt. It contains tmerge-2d and tmerge-3d.

Two faces are different means, they will differ in dimensions. You do one thing, you make a face in such a way that it will match with another face, i mean second face. Suppose if you have two faces one is big and second one is smalle. You create a separate face in big face with the same dimensions of small face. And you connect both the new face and small face. Then they will be in equal dimensions and you can connect both.

Thank you very much for all your reply!!! I think I've to use tmerge and nonconformal mesh in my case, but when I type the command:
utility tmerge -3d in my working directory I obtain these messages...:_( Starting /usr/local/Fluent.Inc/utility/tmerge2.1/lnx86/tmerge_3d.2.1.9 Append 3D grid files. tmerge2D Fluent Inc, Version 2.1.7 Enter name of grid file (ENTER to continue) : film_tet.msh x,y scaling factor, eg. 1 1 : 1 1 Error reading the scaling factors x,y scaling factor, eg. 1 1 : Why??? I'm working in LINUX and maybe I've to type the command line in another directory? Thanks in advance!!! Ari |

write only 1 1 for 2 dimensional and 1 1 1 for 3 d grids
