heat transfering between solid and fluid

Hi all!

I want to simulation the heat transfering between tow domains, solid and fluid, and I think I need set heat transfer coefficient. But out of my expectation, there are two walls between the two domains, and I can't set heat transfer coefficient there. Can anyone explain it to me and tell me how to do it? Thank you!

one wall is associated with the fluid, and one with the solid. You can only set a different heat flux on both walls, a temperature, or you can selecty coupled what means that the heat fluxes through both walls is equal. It's not possible to set a heat transfer coefficient

Hi dieter,

Thank you so much for your explanation. So I want to know why we don't & can't set heat transfer coefficient there. Another question is where to set the heat transfer coefficient? Thank you!

Best regards!

It has got to do with fluents implementation.. I don't know exactly why... maybe you can mail to: support@fluent.co.uk for an better answer.

hi do you need the fluid zone too, or just the convective cooling by the fluid. if you need both the domains then there should be a coupled wall between the two. The temp of the fluid and the velocity should take care of the heat transfer coefficient.
