Multiphase flow (Eulerian) modeling

Hi there,

We are planning to model the high density Circulating Fluidized bed(gas-solid two phase flow) using any of commercial CFD models. With the first hand knowledge, I find that the Eulerian model should be used for such kind of flow.

In this Forum, I would like to know, what is the capabilities/limitations of FLUENT to model such kind of high solid volume fraction gas - solid fluidized flow.

Can anybody provide some details on the comparison of CFX and Fluent to model such CFB flow using multiphase models.

Your input are very valuable to us. Thank you very much for your time and efforts.

I work on circulating fluidized bed simulation too.

The Euleriean model is ok.

How high is the solid mass flux in the reactor?

The models implemented in FLUENT and CFX are almost the same.

Both of them use the kinetic theory for granular flows to describe the solid behaviour, with a simplified algebraic equation for the granular energy.

I obtained interesting results using FLUENT 6, even though the quality of the results is not always reliable and not all properties of the gas-solid flow are captured.

Gas-liquid Eulerian flow

Hello everyone, I want to simulate a gas-liquid flow problem in ANSYS fluent, for which I am facing convergence problem. The details of the problem are as follows:
Geometry: a square duct with co-current gas and liquid flow from the top section (water droplets of 2.5 mm dispersed in air)
Model: 2 phase Eulerian, laminar (once run in laminar, shall be checked for turbulent), unsteady
Boundary condition: velocity inlet with water volume fraction as 0.2. pressure-outlet at the bottom.
Drag law: default- Schiller naumann drag law
What could be the problem? Which drag law could be better suited for this case?

r u using udf for solving this problem? i m doing the analysis of evaporator in which liquid refrigerant falls on the horizontal tubes and evaporates. hv u come across such problem?
