I am trying to get a velocity profile at a inlet of a 3D cylinder. I wrote a velocity profile and I also tried piecewise-linear profile option in the inlet-vent. But I am not getting the solution I want it. Can somebody help me with this problem? Thanks. Moh

Im trying to input a parabolic shaped velocity profile into an inlet. I was hoping that from the XY plot i can get a velocity profile for the inlet. But im not getting the parabolic velocity inlet graph. Maybe its the procedure of inputting the profile or somthing else im doing wrong. Help me with this...

Thanks

If you know the x,y velocity components for the x,y coordinates of your inlet, then

Define-> Pofiles -> Write

choose what you are interested in , and then check the results in a (.dat) file. If you then put the right values(u,v) for the x,y coordinates of your boundary, you have to get the profile right.

Take in to account that x,y components of the face (inlet) are taken of the front cell.

It worked (gave a good velocity profile according to my specifications), but its not showing/covering the whole inlet of the cylinder in 3D. It seems like its only taking into account one axis. e.g, if my inlet lies on XZ-plane, and inputing the velocity into y-axis. Then the profile should come out covering the whole XZ-plane in all dimensions, but infact, its like a 2D shaped lies on XZ-plane.

Thanks for your help.

To use velocity profile in 3D, you must take into account that: X[0]is x coordinate X[1]is y coordinate X[2]is z coordinate
