gambit-fluent

hi all,

Currently i need to have insulation only at the lower end of a wall, while the remaining wall will not be insulated.

Hence, I will need to have 2 B.C.s along a single wall.

I am using Gambit as pre-processor, however, I can't specify 2 separate Boundary Type conditions along a single wall.

Am i doin anything wrong here?

Or is there a way that i can have 2 different B.C.s along a wall?

Thanks in advance to whoever can help me. :)

If you split the wall, you can create different B.C.s for each section.

Hope this helps, Jason

hi jason,

hw can i split the wall?

i created a new edge across the wall n therefore i haf 2 faces. Each face being the BC for the 2 sections of the wall.

But i cant export the mesh. Error.

What kind of error do you get?

Just creating an edge doesn't split the face.

Create the edge you want to use to split the face, then use the split command (second row of buttons in under face geometry, second buttom from the left) to split the face. Make sure the "split with" option is set to "edge". Select the face you want to split, then in the next selection box select the edge you want to split it with. This will create virtual geometry. To avoid this, you can extrude the edge to create a face that juts out from the face you want to split. Then you can split the main face with this new face and this will keep the geometry real (I recommend this... a couple extra steps but virtual geometry can be a pain).

Once you split the face, the volume mesh is gone, as well as the face meshes on the face you split.

Goodluck, Jason
