Default Shell Conduction Vs. Actual Thickness

Hi All,

I have one question. When the thickness is small, we use Fluent's shell conduction option. Let us say, the thickness is 1" which I dont want to mesh, so I applied shell conduction in BC. How much it is going to affect the solution? (For simplicity, consider flow to be free convection)

Thanks , Satyam

sir,

It seems that ur working with a cfd problem that is dealing with heat transfer stuff. Can u please help me in that. I am working in gas turbine combustor. In that we are considering the thickness of thin liner (which is about 1 to 2mm). How to apply the boundary conditions in fluent if i want to incorporate heat transfer(conjugate heat transfer) in my problem. Whether i have to mesh this thickness?

thanks in advance

jyo
