I am working with a 2D unstructured grid in GAMBIT. How can I determine WHAT the minimum grid size is in my domain and WHERE it is?

Thanks, Steven

I haven't been able to find an easy way of doing it in Gambit. You can use the Examine Mesh tool (button all the way to the bottom right of the screen... looks like a yellow grid with a magnifying glass over it) and change the Type to Range, 2D, and make sure you select the triangle if you're using a tet mesh. Also, change the quality type to area. This is a very manual process though. If you have it faceted by quality then it will color in the mesh and you can narrow down the areas with the smallest area and then play with the ranges until you find out which element is actually the smallest and about what size it is. The range is in units^2, so if you modeled it in inches, then the range is the area in inches^2.

Otherwise, when you import it into Fluent, you can do a grid check and it will tell you the smallest and largest face area.

Hope this helps, and goodluck Jason
