Aircraft propeller simulation

Hello. I'm going to simulate a 3 and 4 bladed aircraft propeller encountered with side flow. Can anybody out there help me to get some idea to simulate this propeller? I've used MRF before, however I got negative lift result. For your information, Fluent 6.1 was used to simulate this propeller?

Re: Aircraft propeller simulation

yes you can do it very simple. once you have the geometry all you have to do is to put your propeller into a cilinder and give a rotation mouvement to the reference. in the tutorials you can find a model for rotor stator flow. is the same thing only that your rotor is the propeler and the stator is the plane. yes i've done a hovercraft propeler in fluent and those ware happy with the results

Hi . i want to do propeller simulation in CFD and then extract results like
VORTEX INTERACTION
THRUST DISTRIBUTION
PRESSURE DISTRIBUTION
VELOCITY CONTOURS etc
So plz guide me how can i do it i.e Meshing type ?? boundary conditions in FLUENT ???? .

hi ,

im working on a simulation of a helicopter propeller in FLUENT, I would want to understand what is the kind of mesh domain that is most suitable for this kind of a problem...also can u please help me as in how to set up the model in fluent...What kind of technique is being used for rotating elements and how to set up the problem..Thanks a ton...
