Hello all,

1. If you have two faces side by side with different meshing scheme in Gambit, does Fluent have a problem recognising it? In my understanding, if you use the merge meshed face command, the mesh orientation of the face next to it will follow the mesh scheme of its neighbour.

2. Can Fluent recognise them as one edge and one boundary type if they are two edges connected (I am not talking about merge edge command here)in one line and have the same boundary condition type ?

Rather new in Fluent and gambit. Thanks in advance.

Sham.

If you connect the edges, they become one edge. The difference between connect and merge edges is that merge will only "merge" edges that are on the same face. Connect takes two coincident edges from different faces and makes them one.

If you want the edges connected (so there is only one edge shared by both faces) then don't define any B.C. on it, and Gambit will not write the edge into the mesh file. The edge simply won't show up in Fluent.

If you want to have two separate edges, each with their own mesh, then you have a non-conformal interface... define each edge as it's own "interface" B.C. (lets say int_a and int_b just as an example... call them whatever you want), then in Fluent go to Define->Grid Interfaces and you tell it that the two interfaces are coincident (so call it int_ab, and under the first edge choose int_a, and under the second edge choose int_b, leave coupled and periodic unchecked).

Hope this helps, and goodluck, Jason
