I am working on a project involving pulsatile blood flow simulations (using FLUENT) through Z stent device used to cure Abdominal Aortic aneurysms. I am able to obtain inlet boundary conditions, in terms of pressure profile and velocity, but I am not sure what to use for my outlet conditions. The device is about 17cm long and I don't have enough information about the variation in pressure and/or velocity along this short distance. I would be grateful, if anyone could suggest some solution. Thanks.

Since the mean vascular pressure is 90 mmHg, and it is in AAA, I think you can assume the outlet pressure is 90 mmHg.

But I am not familiar with Fluent, I used FIDAP. Your question make me think another question:

In FIDAP tube flow examples, why there is no oulet boundary condition added? or their default is the outlet P* is zero?

Hi. I am working on the pulsatile blood flow through stnosed arteries. I am curious as to what kind of pusatile conditions you use at the inlet (For eg. Do you use a sinusoidal velocity profile at inlet)? I have prescribed outlet B.C. as press outlet. But it does not seem to give me good results. Let me know if you come across something that works.

i guess you use outflow boundary conditions, if you donot know the conditions at the outlet.

I'm trying to imitate realistic flow profile for the abdomen region, which is looks like damped sinusodial oscillation. But i still haven't fully developed the model.
