To fluent experts,

If i set the velocity inlet value to 0 m/s in xy direction, does it same with the wall boundary condition? I tried to both cases and found that they are different? Can you anyone tell me why ???

Thank you.

it's interesting...some time ago I tried your same case. What kind of solver are you using? segregated or coupled. Try the segregated! it should work. What are you trying to simulate? Pay a lot of attention with this trick... Luca

Hmmm, this is interesting. What exactly does a wall boundary condition impose on the velocity field. As is my understanding it sets the x, z (and if 3d z) velocity to zero. Are you setting all two (or three in 3d) components to zero? If so, what values of flow are at the "wall/velocity inlet" when you plot contours of x, y and z velocity, and how do they differ from just using a regular wall?
