The accuracy of the algorithm reduces when you use the unsteady mode for a problem which looks steady.

Each steady problem can be considered as the "final" state of an unsteady problem.

So you can simulate a steady case considering its evolution in time, waiting until it reaches the steady condition and averaging on a proper time interval.

You will need to be sure though that you do not have an undsteady case. i.e. a flapping jet or vortex shedding etc. In these cases you will not have a steady solution.

Well, sure.

You can simulate a steady case as unstedy. The viceversa is obviously not true.
