How to make a patch in a gap between coaxial cylinders ? Thanks for your help!

Re: Patch

Mark the region you want to patch using the Region Adaption tab (Adapt-> Region). You will be able to select the shapes in region adaption window. Once you initialize the solution, the Patch tab will be higlighted. (solve->initialize->patch)
:)

Hi, APpA

Thank you for quick response. I mean how to make a region like a gap between two coaxial cylinders.

Re: Patch

Its the same way..except that you select Cylinder instead of Hex or sphere in the Region adaption window. input the min and max coordinates and the radius of the cylinder. You can also do this by clicking on the "Select Points With Mouse" tab and select the points manually. If u do this u will need to select three points. cheers!

Re: Patch

Thanks again, but I need the region which lies between two cylinders. You can do it separately and get two marked cylinders . How can I substract one from another in the Adaption operation? Maybe I did not understand what you mean. Can you do it step by step for me? Thanks

Re: Patch

Hi., this is how its done by me usually., I "split" both the co-axial cylinders while creating the geometry in gambit, that makes the two cylinders to be one unique geometry. Then define the boundaries as required. Once the msh is exported, read it and initialize the case. Adapt->Region-> select Cylinder in Shapes Enter the min & max coordinates as shown below (for example two cylinders of radius 0.025 and 0.05 with height of 1 m are present)

Min Max X 0.025 0.05 Y 0 1 Z 0.025 0.05 Enter the value for radius Make sure the "inside" tab is marked so that the cells with in the region will be marked. Once this is done then press "Mark" Now patch it. Hope this clears it up...?

Thanks for your answer, but in this CASE what value of the radius was be input ? There are two choice. One is 0.025, another is 0.05. Only one can be choosen. I am still confused.
