Hi, I am using Fluent and when I initialize my case, fluent prints :

Error : Domainvar_Get_Float: invalid float Error Object: 1.#inf

What does that mean ? What is wrong ? Thank a lot for your help Vincent.

First guess is a problem with your grid. In Fluent go to Grid->Check and see if there are any errors. If so, let me know what the error is and some information on your case and we can try and fix it.

Hi !

Thank you for the answer. I also think there is a problem with the grid but I have no error when I check the grid. So I really can't know what's wrong. I simulate a simple case of flow at low speed around a membrane airfoil. I use Gambit to build the grid. Do you have any idea ?

Thank you in advance.

Is it a 2D or 3D case? I'm assuming there's no UDF or anything attached to the case.

If you go back to Gambit and do a grid check there, find out what the worst equi-angle skew is in your model. You should try to keep it under 0.85, but I've seen cases that work into the low 0.9's depending on where the highly skewed element lies in the domain.

If it's a small enough case, e-mail it (the Fluent case... I'll try to initialize it from here and see what happens) to me and I'll take a look.

Hi,

I was working on the problem this morning and I've just found the explanation. My grid was good but the boundaries conditions were not properly defined. So I guess that is the meaning of the error in Fluent : Error : Domainvar_Get_Float: invalid float Error Object: 1.#inf . At least now it is clear. Thank you very much for your help,

Vincent.
