different bipolar-plates at pem fc --> grid transi

Dear all,
I'm trying to model a pem fuell cell with different anode and cathode flow fields. The problem is the grid generation because I have to make the transition between the two flow field grids in a distance of only 0.4mm(both GDLs). And in these two GDLs I need at least 8 grid layers. It wold be possible with a very fine resolution of both flow fields and a tetrahedral mesh. But this will lead to a lot too much CV's and then I won't be able to do the calculations... Does anybody have experience with grids like that? Thank's in advance and sorry for my poor English korni |

Some options would be a possible look at non-conformal grids. I am also modelling PEM's and am not willing to use the tet or hybrid meshing scheme. Things will become complex if you need to determine your own routine for current density. You mention 8 grid points in each GDL, that seems a touch low given the flow structures that can arise there, in my work I haven't ever been able to go below 10.
anyways, take a look at the non-conformal meshing that may help a little. Cheers, DH |
