hydraulic diameter

Hi,

I would like to know I'm using a periodic boundary condition so 1/10 of my cylinder is represented. By setting the turbulence parameters, do I need to set my hydraulic diameter to 1/10th of the full geometry or the full diameter itself?

thank you

David

Could you explain why to use full diameter?

Thank you in advance

Re: hydraulic diameter

FLUENT needs to have the hydraulic diameter to get an estimate of turbulent intensity. The size of the eddies is limited to the physical space available, and hydraulic diameter is a representative value.

I got it. Thanks
