to know fluctuating components

Hi all,

I am doing my research in flow through vane swirlers using cfd code (FLUENT)in IIT Madras. I am solving the turbulence model using Reynolds stress model and standard K-omega model. It will be helpful to me if I am able to obtain the fluctuating components of velocity. Please kindly help me to know whether i could get the flucutating components.

Thanking you, yours sincerely, R.THUNDIL KARUPPA RAJ.

Re: to know fluctuating components

RSM or k-w solves for Reynolds(turbulence) stresses, which are due to time averaging of the fluctuating part of velocities in N-S equations. So what we could get are those Reynolds stresses, say(AVG(u'v') etc.).

So, in my openion it is difficult to get the actual fluctuating components of velocities when using such RA turbulence models.

Like to know if some treatment of AVG(u'v') can give us what you look for. BTW, for curiocity, why are you interested in getting those? -US
